This year, on 20th May, the Association were incredibly fortunate to host their Championship at the 2024 England Golf Club of the Year; The Bedfordshire. The Club was keen to prove it’s England Golf status, and excelled in providing an overall excellent venue. The club recognised the importance of the Championship, with not only the Greens staff ensuring the course was in peak condition, the club even closed the course to their members enabling our players to have the fully prepared course to themselves. Many thanks go to the hosts for the preparation, and attention to detail throughout.
The Club, staff and members were both extremely welcoming and accommodating, with over 20 members volunteering, ensuring the entire day ran efficiently and smoothly.
Impressively for a venue at the furthest south of the vast Midland region, the entries initially topped 70, with 61 ladies playing on the day, some travelling over 3 hours to play. The course is known for being challenging, and players rose to the challenge. Congratulations to the 10 ladies who took home prizes, they all were worthy winners.
Our Champion on the day, and winning the Dorothy Crooke Salver, was Helen Lowe from Scraptoft Golf Club with an impressive Gross 74, just one shot ahead of both Lindsey Shaw (Chevin GC) and Sally Shayler (Bedfordshire GC).
Other winners were:
Runner Up - Lindsay Shaw | Runner Up - Sally Shayler | Best Nett - Wendy Kerry |
Best Gross O65 - Helena Stewart | MSWGA Banner | Welcome to The Bedfordshire |
