On 6th September 2022, 78 players gathered at the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club for the Welsh Senior Womemn's Championship, and this included 16 Midland Vets who are always keen to support these major championships. The course, like others, had suffered during the recent droughts, but the 2 nights of thunderstorms did much to improve the conditions. We were in for some good golf and an exciting finish. The views from the course were spectacular. Holes were quite tight and required good straight driving and many opportunities for birdies.

Midland Vets put themselves into good positions in the age group categories after the first day. There were some good scores by the top players with Sue Caley (Aspley Guise and Woburn Sands), playing in her first event, leading with a 1 under par gross. The 2nd day gave us a spectacular finish with Sue getting a hole in one on the 18th to get into a play off with Anne Lewis (Royal St Davids) who had a birdie on 18 to get into the playoff. This meant a play off over 3 holes which Anne went on to win. Midland Vets cleaned up on 4 out of 5 age groups and also some good results in the overall competition.
